Thruxton Race Report

After not the best of rounds at Brands Hatch, I was really looking forward to Thruxton as it’s a track I love and always shown well there. Unfortunately, from the get-go, we struggled with finding a setting that I wanted with such short sessions and with a new harder tyre that we had for the abrasive track, but we kept trying to find what we were after and come morning warm-up we thought we had found something.

After having to use the hard tyre in qualifying to sacrifice a fast lap on the hard tyre we ended up in 11th which is not where I wanted to be starting from. Come the race we were hoping that, come the end of the race, everyone’s tyre that set off fast at the start would come back to me as tyre life was going to be an issue but that plan didn’t quite work out and we ended up having to get a shift on with 7 laps to go as I knew they weren’t starting to lose their rear tyre as much as we had hoped.

I did close them down quite a bit but the leading bunch of 4 was just too far away leaving me in 5th position. Not how we wanted to end up but wasn’t so bad as Billy was just in front of me and Joe was just behind me so I managed to extend my lead by 1 more point. Massive thank you to my team that worked hard all weekend and to all my sponsors, family, friends and fans who never stop supporting in me, much appreciated.
